Last year was the 6th PPW event, but the first with our new partners, the Manitoba Band Association and the Desautels Faculty of Music!
This year’s workshop will run from August 7-10, 2018
The workshop starts at 8:45am and runs until 3:30pm each afternoon.
The Prairie Percussion Workshop is a summer program designed for both beginner and advanced middle and high school percussionists. Groups of students are divided into like-classes in order to give beginner students the technical skills they need and the confidence to being playing percussion and advanced students the challenges to their development that will help them push beyond their basic skills and open up opportunities for further development.
Featuring instrument specific technical classes, guest artists, masterclass opportunities as well as ensemble rehearsals and performances, this workshop addresses the needs of the student as a well rounded percussionist, and provides contact with at least 10 different professional instructors and performers. The teacher to student ratio is 1:3 The Prairie Percussion Workshop features individualized instruction, specialized instructors and guest artists in all of the areas of percussion. Join us this summer to discover all of the possibilities that percussion has to offer!
